Südpack Medica will be showcasing its PharmaGuard blister concept for the pharmaceutical industry at Pharmapack in Paris from 24 to 25 January. A workshop will also be dedicated to the topic of sustainable packaging.
The Südpack Medica is successively aligning its portfolio with the new requirements in the market. The best example is PharmaGuard, a Recyclable blister concept for solids applications, which was launched on the market at the beginning of 2023 and was immediately honoured with the „German Packaging Award“ in the sustainability category.
„With its excellent transparency, stable thermoforming and shrink behaviour and wide sealing window, PharmaGuard is rightly regarded as a pioneering, recyclable blister packaging solution with strong future potential.“
Jürgen Bodenmüller, Business Development Director at Südpack Medica
To make it easier for the pharmaceutical industry to switch from vinyl-based thermoforming films to the processing of PP-based blister films, Südpack Medica has expanded its PharmaGuard portfolio to include a variant that can be used in the thermoforming and sealing an even wider process window and therefore offers significant advantages over the standard PP films on the market. For companies with a large number of different blister systems, such as CDMOs, this is a major benefit and improvement.
Workshop on the footprint of packaging
On the first day of the trade fair, 24 January, the company will be hosting the „First choice PP for primary pharma packaging“ workshop at Paris Expo. Here, participants will receive further information on the ecological footprint of various packaging concepts and on segment-specific solutions from PharmaGuard. A second focus will be on the question of how the pharmaceutical industry can minimise its CO2-emissions in a safe and efficient manner and significantly reduce the Managing the transition from a linear to a truly circular economy can.
„As one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance films and packaging concepts, we at Südpack are actively shaping the transformation process in the packaging industry. And as a long-standing partner to the healthcare industry, we see it as our duty to accompany our customers into the future in the best possible way with our expertise and our pioneering solutions.“
Jürgen Bodenmüller
Südpack Medica is also expecting a high level of visitor interest in the area of tubular and 3-side sealed pouches. „In the past few years, we have invested massively in corresponding systems, to meet the increased demand for films and pouches that can be used at various points along the value chain in the pharmaceutical industry,“ says Jürgen Bodenmüller.
The bags are an ideal packaging concept for packaging products such as stoppers, filters or connectors. However, they can also be used as simple media packaging and, above all, as transfer packaging for transport from cleanroom to cleanroom or to the application. Last but not least, the focus at Pharmapack is on the coextruded flexible and rigid films at Südpack Medica. These are used as base and lidding films for the production of sterilisable thermoformed packaging and are equipped with a wide range of functionalities depending on the product.
