For its first facial care product in stick format, the French sun protection brand Hei PoaMarke has worked with the international manufacturer and supplier of cosmetics packaging, Quadpack, to develop aesthetically pleasing packaging that contains as little plastic as possible.

The SPF50+ face stick was launched in record time for the summer season and is now packaged in Quadpack's refillable 15 gram Infinite Panstick. Laura Emery, Product Manager at Hei Poa, talks about the search for the perfect stick: „We needed sustainable packaging for our new SPF50+ face stick. The Infinite Panstick finally convinced us, as it fulfils most of our criteriarefillable, made of recycled plastic, printed in four colours and with an ideal diameter.“

The 21.3 mm diameter of the Infinite Panstick - smaller than the market standard - makes it easy to use. To reduce the amount of plastic and facilitate recycling, Hei Poa opted for the Addition of 50 per cent PCR plastic (post-consumer recycling) to the mono-material PP packaging. It is also available with a refill: The environmentally friendly refill stick of the SPF50+ face protection stick is available at a reduced price and is intended to minimise the Encourage consumers to top up.

With time to market pressing, Quadpack began injecting the components while the artwork was being validated. Once approved, special attention was paid to the decoration. The creative freedom offered by the application of Hei Poa's colourful graphics, enabled the use of thermal transfer printing. The refill stick was decorated just as carefully so as not to be perceived as an inferior version of the full version.
