Mondi has developed a new packaging system for pallets that uses paper instead of plastic in co-operation with the Italian equipment manufacturer ACMI. The new Advantage StretchWrap is fully recyclable.
The current industry standard for wrapping pallets is multi-layer plastic. Now Mondi presents Advantage StretchWrap, a completely new, lightweight paper grade that has been specially developed for wrapping pallets. The paper is elastic, puncture-resistant and offers goods reliable protection during transport.

The paper has a pronounced elasticity and high tensile strength. Acceleration tests in which transport is simulated using ESTL equipment (carried out in accordance with EUMOS 40509) and transport tests under real conditions have confirmed, according to the company, that the pallets have a high tensile strength. Advantage StretchWrap is made from renewable materials produced in Scandinavia. High recycling rates for fibre-based packaging in Europe and the high availability of paper disposal options ensure that the paper can be recycled at the end of its life.

The Advantage StretchWrap paper is patent pending. In combination with ACMI's Rocket E-500 packaging system, the company says it enables the switch to a fully recyclable packaging solution for pallets.
