The Alpla Group is strengthening its injection moulding division ALPLAinject with the acquisition of KM Packaging. The internationally active plastic packaging specialist now produces high-quality closures for tubes, bottles and jars at six additional locations in Germany, Austria, Poland and the USA.
Alpla is expanding its range of closures with the acquisition of KM Packaging. KM Packaging, based in Ubstadt-Weiher (Baden-Württemberg), is integrated into the ALPLAinject division. Six locations in Germany, Austria, Poland and the USA with around 500 employees ensure a significant increase in capacity and product range. KM Packaging produces more than 6.5 billion injection moulded parts every year.
„At Alpla, we think of packaging as a whole. With innovative system solutions, we create competitive advantages for brand manufacturers worldwide. Injection moulded parts play a central role in this. As a recognised specialist for tube closures, caps and dosing aids, KM Packaging fits perfectly into our concept.“
Michael Feltes, Managing Director of ALPLAinject
KM Packaging's management team around Managing Director Klaus Mauer and the staff at the locations will be taken over in their entirety.
„As a traditional family business, Alpla and we share values such as trust, responsibility and the highest quality standards. The integration into Alpla's ‚Family of Pioneers‘ secures the future of the sites, jobs and customer relationships.“
Managing Director Klaus Mauer
The history of KM Packaging goes back to 1949. Today's company was formed in 2008 from the merger of the two family businesses Kutterer Kunststofftechnik and Mauer AG. The renowned plastics specialist from Baden-Württemberg manufactures standard products and customised closures, caps, dosing systems and jars made of PP and PE - in a clean room on request. The products are primarily used in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries.
As a technical partner, KM Packaging provides support in packaging development, reduces the use of materials through lightweighting and consistently favours recycling. Up to 100 per cent post-consumer recycled material (PCR) is possible. Screw caps and flip-tops made of HDPE are available for mono-material packaging applications.
„The harmonious interplay of close customer relationships, technological expertise and a focus on sustainability is in line with our profile. The additional expertise strengthens our role as a leading developer, manufacturer and recycler of plastic packaging.“
Alpla CCO Nicolas Lehner
The takeover was contractually agreed on 23 June 2025. It is subject to and subject to receipt of legal and regulatory approval from the relevant competition authorities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms and conditions.
