Which are the world's best and most innovative aluminium aerosol cans? AEROBAL, the International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Container Manufacturers, has once again set out on a search and has come up with the answer. We show you the winners.

Despite the overall difficult situation on the markets, AEROBAL Secretary General Gregor Spengler was pleased to note that the industry's innovative strength has not diminished in this particular crisis situation.

Winner: Edible oil from Argentina

This year's winner in the category of aluminium aerosol cans that are already on the market was chosen by the jury for the cans from Cocinero Fritolim Oliva and Clasico, which are Trivium Packaging Argentina were produced.

Cocinero Fritolim Oliva is an edible oil spray that aims to offer health-conscious consumers quality and controlled portioning.

The oil is available in three different flavours: Clasico, Oliva and Butter. But with each variant, the product's iconic brand image is always highlighted and emphasised as part of an exemplary design concept: a handsome man with an apron and chef's hat smiling at the consumer. The eye contact involuntarily captures the viewer's attention; at the same time, the attractive man literally gives the product and the brand an unmistakable face.

Best prototype

The winners in the prototype category were the two aluminium cans for self-marketing purposes „Save the Earth“ and „The Matrix“, which are CCL Container from the USA can be produced. The US manufacturer has entered into a co-operation with Sun Chemical to develop and produce these attractive aluminium cans with their remarkable and innovative Spot Varnish Ink Technology.

This was CCL's response to strong customer interest in this new option in printing technology and the desire for new options for designing aluminium cans.

The special thing about this promising technology, but also a special challenge, is that it no longer uses a traditional coating varnish in the conventional sense. Instead, it is integrated into the printing ink as an additive and can therefore fulfil its function. Without coating varnish - whether traditional or as an additive in the printing ink - it would be extremely difficult to mould the can. The coating varnish also protects the cans against scratching, chipping of the printing ink, abrasions and other signs of wear.

Winner of the Sustainability category from Germany

In the sustainability category, the aluminium can from Cien Deo through, which from the German manufacturer Tubex is produced. According to the manufacturing company, the winning can is the first aluminium aerosol can to be printed with an ecological and sustainable printing ink. The ink used is free from mineral, palm, soya bean and coconut oil, thus helping to protect the world's rainforests. Furthermore, no genetically modified organic substances are used. Finally, all binding agents are based on renewable sources. Due to its natural ingredients, the printing ink is also not subject to labelling requirements.
