German Aluminium Industry Association repositions itself

Aluminium Deutschland e.V. will represent its interests in Berlin independently in future and has appointed Angelika El-Noshokaty as its new Managing Director.

Aluminium Deutschland e.V. is repositioning itself strategically and in terms of personnel. In future, the association will represent its political interests independently in Berlin and significantly expand its presence in the capital. The repositioning is accompanied by a change at the head of the association: Angelika El-Noshokaty has replaced the previous Managing Director Marius Baader.

The fundamental strategic repositioning of Aluminium Germany agreed by the member companies also includes the Relocation of the association's headquarters from Düsseldorf to Berlin. The association had previously delegated parts of its representation of interests to the WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle, from which it will leave at the end of 2025.

„After more than a year of intensive discussion within our membership, it became clear that the German aluminium industry's focus on its own material, with its own strong voice in Berlin and Brussels, has become indispensable. Aluminium is an elementary key material for the economic transformation in Germany and Europe. Nevertheless, our industry is facing unprecedented political challenges. It was therefore imperative that we represent the interests of the material and its companies directly and independently in Berlin in future.“

The focus will be on key areas such as raw materials and circular economy policy, energy, environmental and sustainability policy as well as trade and European policy.

The new start also entails personnel changes. Marius Baader, Managing Director of Aluminium Germany since 2019, is leaving the association at his own request to pursue new professional challenges. His successor Angelika El-Noshokaty will take over as Chief Executive Officer of the association from 1 September 2025. take over. She can look back on 15 years of experience in political lobbying. After working in the German Bundestag and in political strategy consulting for industrial companies, she was last at Novelis, a leading manufacturer of flat rolled aluminium products and the world's largest aluminium recycler, is responsible for representing German interests in Berlin. In addition to her knowledge of the Berlin and Brussels political scene, El-Noshokaty also has extensive experience in political communication and campaign design and is familiar with the challenges of the aluminium industry in detail thanks to her most recent position.

Aluminium Deutschland is the voice of the German aluminium industry and represents the interests of around 150 companies with more than 61,000 employees and an annual turnover of almost 25 billion euros. After iron and steel, aluminium is the most widely used metal in the world.
