Amazon UAE has introduced a new recycling programme to make it easier for customers to dispose of their Amazon packaging in an environmentally friendly way. In collaboration with certified recycling partner Enviroserve, more than 150 collection points have been set up in residential and commercial neighbourhoods in Dubai.
The programme supports the goals of the UAE Green Agenda 2030 as well as Amazon's climate protection strategy to operate in a CO₂-neutral manner by 2040. Customers can hand in all packaging materials - from cardboard boxes and plastic mailers to bubble bags and wrapping paper - at specially set up collection points. A QR code on the Amazon parcels takes users to the Amazon Second Chance platform, which offers information on correct disposal and other recycling initiatives.
Prashant Saran, Director of Operations at Amazon Middle East, Africa and Turkey, explained that the programme facilitates responsible recycling and at the same time supports the sustainability goals of the United Arab Emirates.
The initiative complements Amazon's existing measures to reduce packaging waste, including AI-supported models to optimise carton size and the Ships in Product Packaging concept, which eliminates the need for additional shipping envelopes.
