Amcor is expanding its presence in the healthcare packaging sector and opening a new warehouse and distribution centre in Costa Rica. The company, which is headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, intends to use the centre to make the supply of medical customers in North and South America more efficient.

The new centre is located in San José and, according to Amcor, will enable an optimised supply chain with faster service and simplified customs clearance. The products on offer include trays, moulded films, bags, pouch pouches, lid blanks and labels. The company emphasises that its quality standards are also consistently adhered to in Costa Rica in order to meet the regulatory requirements of the healthcare industry.

Significance for Costa Rica as a MedTech location

Costa Rica is considered an important location for medical technology companies. According to Amcor Vice President Art Castro, the new facility will help improve supply chains for international medtech manufacturers while facilitating access to the company's packaging solutions. The country is home to many of the industry's leading OEMs and plays a growing role in the global healthcare industry.

Amcor operates its healthcare packaging division worldwide with offerings for medical, pharmaceutical and consumer health products. By expanding its network in Central America, the company aims to support its customers closer to production sites and markets.
