Amcor: New production line for shrink bags and films

With the investment and commissioning of a new production line for PVdC-free shrink bags and films at its UK site in Swansea, Amcor is strengthening its capacities in the area of high-performance packaging for meat and cheese.

Amcor has set up a new production line for high-performance shrink bags and films for meat and cheese. It is located at the Amcor Flexibles plant in Swansea, UK. The new shrink bags and films are designed to offer a more sustainable alternative to existing solutions - PVdC-free, with high barrier protection, reduced thickness, with the same performance characteristics and good optical properties.

Amcor's PrimeSeal shrink bags and films significantly extend the shelf life of perishable products such as fresh meat. They offer a high barrier protection against oxygen and moisture to maintain the freshness and safety of the products. They also ensure Protection during packaging, transport, sale and at home. For the application area of high puncture resistance, there is PrimeSeal Crystal Shield, which extends the shelf life of all types of meat and non-gassing cheese by providing additional product protection.

„With our latest shrink system, we can now produce thinner, PVdC-free shrink bags and films that not only offer the same transparency and protection as existing solutions, but also surpass them in terms of performance and reduced plastic consumption.“

Robert Kleinschmidt, Vice President of the Meat, Fish and Poultry Business Unit at Amcor
