Amcor reduces plastic content in Bulldog tubes

Amcor has reduced the wall thickness of flexible plastic tubes for the British skincare brand Bulldog, achieving material savings of over 16 per cent.

Packaging specialist Amcor has reduced the wall thickness of flexible plastic tubes for the British skincare brand Bulldog, achieving material savings of over 16 per cent - while maintaining the same product quality and functionality.

The optimisation affects 50 mm tubes in 100 ml and 150 ml formats, which are used for several Bulldog products. According to Amcor, the weight reduction leads to an annual saving of around 8.5 tonnes of plastic. In addition, the revised tube now consists of More than 62 per cent recycled plastic (PCR).

The design has been adapted so that the crimpability, print quality and tightness continue to meet the high standard. The lighter sleeve is fully Compatible with existing fastener and shoulder components, which makes a changeover in the filling process superfluous.

Bulldog has been using bio-based materials since 2017. Sugar cane-based plastics from Amcor. The latest new development underlines the endeavours of both companies to promote resource-saving solutions and make a contribution to the circular economy.
