The BDE Federal Association of the German Waste, Water and Recycling Industry is set for a change in leadership. Executive President Anja Siegesmund will hand over her office on 31 January 2026 to Vice President Matthias Harms, who will lead the association on an interim basis until further notice.
The BDE Federal Association of the German Waste, Water and Recycling Industry is facing a change at the top of the association. Anja Siegesmund will relinquish her position as Executive President on 31 January 2026. The current Vice President Matthias Harms will then take over the leadership of the association on an interim basis.
According to the association, the background to the change is a phase of strategic development and reorganisation. Over the past few months, it had become apparent that the Executive Committee and the President had different ideas about the future direction of the BDE. After an intensive and trusting exchange, it was jointly decided to organise the transition in an orderly manner.
The Executive Committee expressly recognised the work of Anja Siegesmund. Under her leadership, important steps towards the strategic reorganisation of the association have been implemented and the positioning of the BDE as the voice of the circular economy has been further strengthened. Matthias Harms will now lead the association on an interim basis until further notice.
