The German pet food manufacturer Escapure has now automated its packaging process with the SchurStar concept, consisting of a packaging machine and prefabricated chain bags.
Since 2010, the family business has been producing meat for dogs without grain, preservatives and artificial flavourings. Thanks to current New listings at chains such as Fressnapf Escapure was confronted with growing demands in terms of adaptability, packaging capacity and delivery reliability. Previously, all products were filled into bags manually and also manually provided with a cardboard header. But with the extensive expansion of the customer base, automation was the order of the day.
"The many product variants in different bag sizes pose no challenge with the SchurStar concept, as it offers us all the flexibility we need,“ explains Hans Hibler, Managing Director. „Not only can we now switch from one bag variant to another, from one product to another, in just a few minutes. We can also switch to manual or fully automatic packaging just as quickly and easily - depending on the product - without the need for additional tools. The concept also represents a future-proof solution for us, as we are currently preparing a comprehensive range expansion with a similar number of variants for cats“.
Recyclable stand-up pouches
The many product variants are presented in Recyclable bags made from a PE laminate packaged. This is possible thanks to a special extrusion technique, with a mono PE laminate to offer the functionalities of a PET/PE film required for pet food. The company has also opted for the Stand-up pouch because the construction is easy to handle in the household, and its Reclosure preserves product quality and thus eliminates product waste. To meet the taste of every picky dog and offer a treat for every occasion, The range comprises 14 variants in three product groups - Bars, Hupferl and Softies.
