Avery Dennison and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) are expanding their collaboration to strengthen the training of packaging experts in India. With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the IIP campus in Mumbai, both partners agreed to introduce a Management Development Programme aimed at middle management levels in the packaging industry.
The co-operation agreement was signed by R. K. Mishra, Director of IIP and Additional Director General of Foreign Trade in Mumbai, and Saurabh Agarwal, Vice President and General Manager South Asia at Avery Dennison. The three-day programme is aimed at professionals from various industries such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemicals, automotive and consumer goods and will impart practical management skills.
Combining academic knowledge and industrial practice
The training programme will take place both at the Indian Institute of Packaging in Mumbai and at the Avery Dennison production and development facility in Pune. According to the partners, the concept combines theoretical content with practical insights into industrial processes. Experienced managers from the industry as well as university lecturers and industry experts are planned as speakers.
Focus on future topics in the packaging industry
The programme is aimed at packaging specialists who work in brand companies and want to prepare themselves for changing conditions such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, regulatory requirements and changing consumer behaviour. According to the partners, the aim of the programme is to better prepare participants for future management tasks and to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between industry and education.
The first cohort is scheduled to start in March 2026. A total of 20 selected professionals are expected to participate. With this initiative, Avery Dennison says it is reaffirming its commitment to the development of packaging skills and professional training in India.
