Avient, the merger of PolyOne and Clariant Masterbatch, has now presented ColorForward 2022, the annual colour guide for the plastics industry.
Avient Corporation, a provider of specialised and sustainable material solutions, has announced the launch of ColourForward 2022 by Avient ColorWorks announced. With this 16th edition, the annual colour guide for the plastics industry makes its debut under the umbrella of Avient, which was formed in 2020 from the former PolyOne and Clariant Masterbatch companies.
As in the past, the company presents ColourForward 2022 stories in connection with four social trends that are expected to consciously or unconsciously influence consumers in the coming years. Each trend theme also includes a palette of five corresponding colours and describes the reactions likely to be triggered among consumers.
Colour guide established as a decision-making aid
The colour guide was developed by a global team, most of whose members in the four global design and technology centres of Avient ColorWorks are active. It has proven to be an excellent decision-making tool for plastic product designers and marketing professionals looking for more informed colour choices for new products and packaging.

This year, the ColourForward 2022 trend watchers expect the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to continue for some time, even if the world returns to a certain 'normality' with vaccines and treatments. And, of course, this will influence social trends and consumers' perception of colour in the near and medium term.
"The entire colour palette for 2022 is dominated by yellow tones and many of the other colours are associated with it. For example, several greens, reds, oranges and some blues have a high yellow content, which gives us the warmth of human contact in the social isolation that the pandemic is forcing us into. The yellowish greens are also indicative of our need to get back to nature and avoid the artificial, including all the screens and digital connections that we currently have to use so excessively." Avient ColorWorks also offers seminars at its four global design and technology centres as well as at selected conferences and customer locations. These can be held virtually and/or as face-to-face events.
