Baumer takes over X-Sensors

Baumer has announced the acquisition of the Swiss company X-Sensors AG. With this step, the sensor specialist is expanding its range of high-precision force and strain sensors and further strengthening its position in this area.

At the start of the SINDEX trade fair in Bern, Baumer announced that X-Sensors has been developing and producing force and strain sensors for leading OEMs for 25 years. The integration of the technology and the development teams is intended to strengthen innovation in the field of smart, IO-Link-capable sensor technology.

Expansion of market position through merger

The acquisition represents a strategic expansion of Baumer's portfolio. According to the company, the use of intelligent electronics and communication interfaces such as IO-Link promises a significant innovation boost in force and strain measurement.

According to its own information, the Baumer Group has been Partner for over 3,000 machine manufacturers worldwide in the packaging industry and offers a broad portfolio of sensor solutions, encoders, smart vision sensors, cameras and process sensors.

For the time being, customers will continue to be supported via the existing sales channels. Integration of the X-Sensors products into the Baumer portfolio is planned in the medium term.
