BillerudKorsnäs and Aisa Packaging have jointly developed a fibre-based alternative to conventional plastic toothpaste and cosmetic tubes. The paper tube made from FibreForm material replaces plastic in the tube shoulder and sleeve.

FibreForm from BillerudKorsnäs makes it possible, that the tube retains its shape and squeezing No traces leaves behind. The sustainable material can also be embossed up to ten times deeper than normal paper. This enables unique 3D effects and memorable tactile experiences.

Thanks to the use of FibreForm, Aisa is now able to, Replace up to 70 per cent of plastic in the functional shoulder component. Together with the tube sleeve, which consists of over 85 per cent paper, this hybrid shoulder contributes to packaging made predominantly from paper. „Our customers can now market products that stand out from the packaging used in the mass market,“ says Joachim Sander, Director Marketing & Sales at AISA Automation Industrielle SA.

Paper tube runs on existing machines

Tubes from FibreForm can be used in various segments such as toothpaste and cosmetics. The material is renewable, biodegradable, cold-mouldable and requires less energy to produce than plastic. FibreForm can also be trouble-free on Aisa machines without having to convert them.
