It has been nominated for the German Packaging Award 2015. We are talking about a small green delivery note bag from Biobiene, which is exactly what it appears to be - namely „green“ in the sense of environmentally friendly. It will now compete for the coveted win in the „Labels, closures and other packaging aids (EVP)“ category.
The „green“ delivery note bag is a product of the Full service packaging (FSP), Frödenberg, which is made of 100 per cent paper. And that is something special for a delivery note bag, as plastic has usually been used for these products up to now. Now the Stick-on bag on the package have not only turned green on the outside, but also in their hearts. Their commitment is intended to rid the world of even more pollution.
Contribution to a clean environment
Plastic waste is now becoming a horror scenario in the world. Square-kilometre islands are floating in the oceans, made of nothing but Plastic waste exist. Animals die because they ingest plastic with their food or become entangled in the residue. The tiny particles also return via the water cycle and have already been detected in drinking water and various foods. Every piece of plastic that can be saved means a cleaner future.
The issue of environmental friendliness is increasingly taking centre stage for companies and is an important decision criterion for customers. Anyone who produces in an environmentally unfriendly way is no longer „up-to-date“. Packaging is no different. The company Full Service Packaging with the brand Biobiene® doesn't just want to stand by and watch, but is actively working towards a cleaner future. The seemingly small delivery note pocket has a big impact when it comes to environmental sustainability.
But this is not the first Biobiene® product to make a name for itself. Biobiene® is committed to environmentally friendly packaging and has been following in the green footsteps for a long time. Customers can find an extensive range of environmentally friendly packaging materials from all sectors at the company. Anyone who didn't know that organic packaging was possible will be amazed at what is possible if you just want to.

Packaging material is often made of plastic. However, this also means waste that decomposes very slowly and has a long shelf life. Depending on its composition, it can take 1,000 years or more for the material to decompose. This is why Biobiene® deliberately avoids plastic materials and is thus committed to a sustainable economy. The company is well on the way to demonstrating and developing environmentally friendly solutions in the packaging industry worldwide. The natural raw material wood and recycled old paper form the basis for the new products.
For many years now, the FSP has been developing® Products created for a healthy environment. For more information Marcel Suffrian, who is a founding member of Full Service Packaging.

pj: Mr Suffrian, what goals are you pursuing?
Marcel Suffrian: My credo is: develop packaging material that fits 100 per cent environmentally friendly is.
pj: How did you come up with the idea of the green delivery note pocket come?
Marcel Suffrian: I asked myself the question: How can a shipper organise its entire shipping process in an environmentally friendly way?“ This led to the idea of also making the possible delivery note bag completely environmentally friendly.
pj: You say that you would like to make all shipping packaging 100 per cent environmentally friendly - how close have you already come to achieving this goal?
Marcel Suffrian: As the value ultimately depends on the respective application, I would like to relate the answer to the majority of shippers. Up to 31.5 kg of normal shipping (i.e. without frozen goods, for example), we already achieve 100 per cent environmentally friendly shipping packaging.
pj: How widespread is the „green“ delivery note bag already?
Marcel Suffrian: Its use in practice is still in its infancy, but we are seeing a steadily increasing response, even from large companies. Without a single exception, all companies that have used and familiarised themselves with the „green“ delivery note envelope so far are extremely enthusiastic.
The signalling effect a company sends to its customers by using the „green“ delivery note bag is so striking that the additional price is immediately recouped in terms of the significantly enhanced image. In addition, to our knowledge, there is no comparable product in the packaging sector that reflects the „green“ footprint of a company to the outside world for such a favourable unit price.
A calculation example: impact of the „green“ delivery note bag on the environment
Let's assume that three of the mail order companies with the highest turnover in Germany were to opt for the „green“ delivery note bag. The saving in plastic waste would then be so great that 85 football pitches could be covered with the plastic that would be saved in one month:
According to Focus.de, DHL and Hermes deliver a total of around five million parcels every day. Even if only one per cent of these carry a delivery note bag, this corresponds to around 1.5 million delivery note bags per month. If only the viewing window were made of plastic, which is not the case with many delivery note envelopes, the area of the lined-up viewing windows would be roughly the size of 412 football pitches (a plastic viewing window measures approximately 174 mm x 64 mm)[/infotext].
pj: What advice would you give our readers?
Marcel Suffrian: „Think green!“Environmental protection you can touch in practice with real products that the customer can see and actually touch. This thinking will bring about a change. If we all pull together and every company uses these solutions, the value and importance of environmentally friendly packaging in society will continue to grow.
