With around 2,200 exhibitors and almost 32,000 trade visitors, Biofach 2026 underlined its position as the world's leading platform for organic food. The four days of the trade fair in Nuremberg were characterised by intensive expert discussions, political impetus and a wide-ranging congress programme.
In total, exhibitors from almost 90 countries took part. Around one in two trade visitors travelled from abroad. Despite restrictions on public transport and air travel, the trade fair reached its key target groups and facilitated dialogue between manufacturers, retailers, politicians and other stakeholders, according to reports.
„The organic sector is strong and full of energy. This spirit was palpable in all halls: the organic community once again used the trade fair as its central platform - as a place where they can talk to each other, gain orientation and define concrete steps towards sustainable nutrition. The strength of the industry is not only reflected in the current market balance, but also in the fact that this dynamism is directly reflected in an excellent rebooking rate and numerous requests for expansion for 2027. Over two thirds of the space has already been booked.“
Dominik Dietz, Head of Biofach
Congress focussing on young perspectives
The main theme „Growing Tomorrow: Young Voices, Bold Visions!“ characterised the Biofach Congress. The focus was on young perspectives, new impulses and cross-generational dialogue along the entire value chain. Market developments, regulatory issues, consumer perspectives, supply chains and sustainability strategies were discussed.
The most popular panels included „EU Regulatory Update“ and „News from Organic Law: What is changing and needs to change in the Organic Farming Regulation“ with a total of 415 participants. The congress programme comprised a total of 169 slots.
Innovations, trends and awards
The supporting programme focused on the Planetary Health experience, the innovation stand with 480 products and the product and industry trends identified by a trend jury. On the Innovation Stage, 31 start-ups presented their concepts in pitch formats and discussion rounds.
In the final of the start-up pitches, the company pack & satt was honoured with the Biofach Start-up Award. The trade fair also presented Best New Product Awards in numerous categories, including fresh produce, frozen products, beverages, natural cosmetics, technology and media.
Partner country India in focus
India took centre stage as Country of the Year 2026. At the joint APEDA stand, 95 exhibitors showcased the breadth of organic agriculture, from rice and spices to pulses and millet. The trade fair thus emphasised its international focus and the growing importance of global organic markets.
The next Biofach will take place in Nuremberg from 16 to 19 February 2027.
