With „Ecozen HF“, Hamburg-based Velox GmbH and its partner SK Chemicals are offering a new, transparent, partially bio-based plastic. The copolyester range is suitable as a replacement for the packaging materials aluminium, glass or PET.
The new material is similar to PET process, for example in the Stretch-blow method, says Velox General Manager François Minec. However, Ecozen HF offers decisive advantages because it can withstand high temperatures and pressures.
The transparent material could act as a lighter alternative to glass. Also for Hot filling applications it is suitable. The costly heat-set process and crystallisation of the bottle or can neck, which would be necessary with PET, would then no longer be necessary. Finally Ecozen HF because of the pressure resistance also as an alternative to Aluminium claddings for cosmetic spray cans.
