The coronavirus pandemic is forcing many companies to find new ways of retaining customers faster than expected. Swiss plant manufacturer Bobst has now published its vision for the future and is focussing on smart factories, technology lounges and reference locations for customers.
The number of Industry events and trade fairs has grown in the last ten years Booming increase. On the other hand Communication technologies open up new possibilities, to share content. To make its customer contacts more efficient, Bobst will further develop its existing Competence Centres and offer all customers and interested parties new opportunities to access product and solution demonstrations. The Competence centres have been significantly expanded in recent years through extensive investments. According to Bobst, they have become „a privileged place to provide customers with live experiences and validate investments“.

Transformation to the smart factory
This transformation will lead to new ‚smart factories‘ which will include technology lounges, partnerships and application experts to demonstrate complete end-to-end solutions. Customers will have the opportunity to experience all steps of the Production of labels, bags or boxes at first hand. From the production of carrier materials to job preparation, colour management, printing, tool preparation and further processing, visitors will have the opportunity to test specific tasks performed by packaging manufacturers.
The company wants to be less present at trade fairs in future. Bobst will not be taking part in drupa 2021.
