At LabelExpo 2019, BOBST presented its latest innovation - a hybrid label printing machine that Digital and DigiFlexo printing technology combined in the best possible way in one machine. The MASTER DM5 - forms her heart Inkjet digital printing technology from Mouvent™ - combines complete flexibility in the production of very high-quality labels with extremely short set-up and amortisation times.
It is the printing press with the highest digital degree of automation in the labelling market. It also offers the highest Print quality and productivity on.
„The MASTER DM5 is our first fully digitally integrated hybrid printing press. It heralds a new era in the production of self-adhesive labels with completely new standards in terms of productivity and profitability,“ explains BOBST's CEO Jean-Pascal Bobst. „BOBST's offering now includes a complete range of digital, hybrid and DigiFlexo printing solutions that are perfectly integrated, interchangeable and scalable for all current and future requirements.“
The MASTER DM5 is characterised by the most advantageous digital integration. Even at first glance, it looks different and stands out visually. It claims the industry's Smallest footprint and allows a simple, user-friendly access to the digital print heads and automatic set-up for applications in which several processes are used.
The digital printing unit in the MASTER DM5 is based on the cluster technology developed by Mouvent. This works with SAMBA printheads from Fujifilm Dimatix and forms the innovative basis for the entire range of digital printing machines developed by Mouvent - BOBST's competence centre for digital printing. The Cluster printing units from Mouvent™ are super-compact, easily replaceable and easily accessible, allowing for simple maintenance. They include fully integrated inking units, conditioning and electronic circuits that Maximum reliability of the print heads ensure.

„Its productivity and reliability are two of the biggest advantages of the MASTER DM5,“ says Federico D'Annunzio, Programme Manager Hybrid Printing at BOBST.
„It offers a Complete integration of flexo and digital printing, non-stop productivity and the highest machine availability in the industry. With a resolution of 1,200 × 1,200 dpi it prints top quality at speeds of up to 100 m/min. Full digital automation means that only one machine operator is needed to print short and medium runs of very high quality labels. Job changeovers including flexo and digital printing, die-cutting and stripping can be on-the-fly can be carried out without stopping the press. All analogue tools (impression cylinders, flexible die-cutting tools) are changed automatically. Waste stripping is also fully automated. By eliminating the bottleneck of conventional analogue processes, the MASTER DM5 is the first digitalised ‘non-stop’ label printing machine."
But that's not all: at a time when Colour accuracy and colour stability are more important than ever, the MASTER DM5 offers the widest colour gamut in digital printing as well as the most precise and simplest digital colour matching. It also features exclusive screen technology and a digital user interface.
For the DigiFlexo printing units, the Ink-on-demand option (IoD) is now available. It is a revolutionary solution that replaces conventional colour containers with a single colour container. Rubber pipe which feeds 30 grams of ink into the printing units. The system works Without colour trays and chambered doctor blade. It washes the inking units fully automatically within one minute.
The machines also offer a wide range of Finishing options for the production of labels with added value such as coatings, varnishes, haptic effects, 3D effects, hot foil and cold foil stamping, embossing, die-cutting, punching and screen printing as well as variable data printing in both flexo and digital printing.
„The world has never seen a fully digitally integrated label printing press like the MASTER DM5. It offers decisive advantages in printing and finishing.“
