At an open house in its Competence Centre in San Giorgio (Italy), Bobst and its industry partners presented new standards for the production of flexible packaging.

The focus was on the digital gravure printing solution smartGRAVURE and the solvent-free laminating machine NOVALAM S 550. The two-day event on 8 and 9 April offered visitors from the industry machine demonstrations, specialist presentations and intensive networking with technology partners such as AVT, Sun Chemical, UPM Speciality Papers, Synaptik and Co-ëfficiënt.

Digital gravure printing rethought

With smartGRAVURE, demonstrated on a MASTER RS 6003, Bobst is focusing on end-to-end digitalised process optimisation. The combination with oneECG technology for an extended colour space and the cloud-based Bobst Connect control system enables colour stability with minimal ink and material consumption. The oneSET module is used to set up print jobs with just one click, it says.

Solvent-free laminating at top speed

The NOVALAM S 550 impressed in live operation with its processing of current trend materials such as thin, stretchable or metallised films. With speeds of up to 450 m/min and „Plug & Play“ integration, the machine is aimed at packaging manufacturers of all sizes.
