Peatland renaturation with packaging licensing

Interseroh+ wants to do more for climate protection together with customers and partners. To this end, the company is now launching a project to renaturalise moors in Osnabrück. For every tonne of licensed sales packaging, a piece of moorland will be renatured.

With the new campaign Interseroh+ under the motto „WE WANT MOORE!“ for restore a piece of moorland for every tonne of licensed sales packaging. „Most people think of the storage of CO2 immediately to trees, but the most effective CO2 The moors with their moist mossy areas are storage sites,“ explains Markus Müller- Drexel, Chairman of the Management Board, Interseroh+ GmbH. More and more moorland is being drained, which means that less CO2 saved.

Together with ‚Mission to Marsh‘, Interseroh+ is renaturalising the Venner Moor in Osnabrück. In the process Habitat preserved, protected and reclaimed - also to save all the endangered animal species. Peatlands store twice as much carbon in their peat as is contained in the world's forests. They are an important habitat for many plant and animal species, including endangered species. Peatlands act as natural water reservoirs and can help prevent flooding. They also retain water and thus delay run-off, which significantly reduces problematic flooding. Finally, moors are a special feature of the landscape and help to preserve the cultural identity of a region.
