Bosch is looking for a new owner for its packaging machinery (PA) business. The decision concerns the pharma and food sectors of the Packaging Technology division.

According to its own statements, Bosch wants to focus its resources due to the necessary transformation within the company. The Packaging Technology division was particularly scrutinised in this context, as it not part of the core business of the Group. PA is active in the project business in specialised areas of the packaging industry active. On the one hand, the company sees structural advantages among its medium-sized competitors, on the other hand, there are no sufficiently relevant synergies in terms of business and technology to further develop this area. The speciality machine manufacturer Robert Bosch Manufacturing Solutions GmbH is an independent legal entity and remains within the Bosch Group.

„This decision enables Bosch to focus more strongly on future topics such as the transformation of the Group and the orientation towards future digitalisation, such as the Internet of Things, and to pool existing resources accordingly,“ explains Dr Stefan Hartung, Member of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH with responsibility for the Energy and Building Technology and Industrial Technology divisions.

Hartung is convinced that PA will benefit from this decision, as the packaging technology will be able to adapt more flexibly to the diverse requirements of the SME market under a different set-up.

New owner sought for further growth

In the past two years, PA has struggled with economic difficulties in individual areas. However, according to Bosch, the company has successfully begun to reorganise itself under new management and has already developed many units for the growing market. Well repositioned. The latest innovations have been honoured and the company expects to see an increase in the coming years. Increasing demand.

„My colleagues on the PA Management Board and I are convinced of the future success of the business. We are one of the largest companies in our industry and are clearly on the right track. We will remain together as a strong, stable division and provide our customers with outstanding production solutions and services as a proven team - even under a new owner,“ says Dr Stefan König, Chairman of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch Packaging Technology GmbH. „PA has always been a largely independent division of the Bosch Group and will be able to position itself even more specifically for the needs of the industry in the future. Our customers will benefit from this.“
