Due to their lower density, the new PET floatable lidding films from Südpack can be separated from the material stream of the APET bottom film during the recycling process, which can then be recycled by type and fed into the appropriate material streams.
With the top films that can be sealed on mono-APET trays Sustainable alternative for secure packaging of sliced sausage, ham and cheese in peelable thermoformed and MAP packs are available on the market. In terms of performance and processing, PET floatable lidding films are on a par with other standard lidding films.
In addition to a peelable version, the product family includes also a top film that is equipped with Multipeel and has excellent opening and resealing behaviour. Consumers appreciate the extra plus in terms of convenience, because the secure closure of thehe shelf life of the packaged food is extended. Multipeel PET floatable therefore makes a twofold contribution to reducing the product's carbon footprint by extending the shelf life of food in recyclable packaging.
Strong product features
The Peel PET floatable is at the top of its class in terms of pack security and performance: The Very thin lidding film with 45 µm seals reliably against PET even when contaminated with grease. It is easy to remove from the tray, does not tear when opened and does not roll up. The high oxygen barrier also ensures optimum product protection. In addition the good anti-fog properties prevent the cover film from fogging up - an aspect that promises a high level of attractiveness at the POS and is seen by consumers as a quality feature of the product and packaging.
When using the Peel PET floatable No major adjustments required in the machine area - The high-performance films can be optimally processed on thermoforming packaging machines and traysealers in the same way as conventional lidding films. Excellent sealing properties and a large processing window guarantee high flexibility as well as maximum packaging and process reliability.
Success factor with added value: recyclability
If Südpack customers opt for the new Peel or Multipeel PET floatable, they can use it in combination with a mono-APET tray to optimise their Declare packaging concept as recyclable now and also make a positive contribution in terms of resource conservation and sustainability.
