Less material for butter packaging
A Dutch producer of dairy products has introduced an eye-catching packaging solution for butter on the chiller shelves for the private label of one of the country's largest retailers using the EasyLid concept from Sealpac. EasyLid, an innovative development by Sealpac and Naber Plastics B.V./Netherlands, is an innovative lid-cup packaging. It makes it possible to dispense with the top film, which helps to fulfil strict hygiene requirements, when sealing the cup. The system uses prepared Cup inserted with a perforated lid ring. These are hermetically sealed with a film. This creates a firm bond between the film and the lid ring, which becomes the conventional lid when the packaging is opened for the first time.
This means that EasyLid Less material than comparable cup packaging. The pre-produced EasyLid cups from Naber Plastics are made of 100 per cent polypropylene (PP). The mono-material packaging is easy to recycle after use. Further advantages of EasyLid are lower investment costs and space requirements due to the elimination of the lid system. At the same time, the system helps to minimise plastic waste. Conserving resources in the packaging process and has already been honoured with several international packaging awards for this. FlatMap, a MAP packaging solution that is used by a renowned meat producer for sliced sausage, among others, ensures a fresh, eye-catching appearance at the POS with reduced use of plastic. The packaging innovation consists of a flat cardboard carrier coated with a wafer-thin layer of plastic, on which the sliced products are placed. This is sealed with a resealable top film. The tight-fitting film ensures excellent residual oxygen values in the MAP process, which are significantly lower than with conventional resealable thermoformed packaging. When the packaging is opened, it can be completely removed from the packaging so that the sausage products can be served directly on the printed product carrier. Afterwards, the film is smoothed back over the product and ensures safe, hygienic storage thanks to its high resealability. After use Cleanly separate plastic and cardboard and dispose of them in the appropriate recycling centres. Dispose of for recycling.
