Sealed butter - the new butter packaging

Alpma has introduced FreshPack. The butter is now packaged in sealed packaging. Weihenstephan is already enthusiastic.

Alpma, a specialised mechanical engineering company, has launched FreshPack, a product that is said to „reinvent the butter packaging method“. The Weihenstephan dairy in Upper Bavaria has been using the machine since the beginning of the year. With success.

Why does butter need a new dress?

The conventional, envelope-like fold wrapping film - the classic - has its weaknesses. The somewhat newer form of butter packaging in plastic pots, on the other hand, displeases consumers who value sustainability. A new solution was needed. One that also optimally protects the butter. So that neither flavour qualities nor shelf life are reduced.

„We have heard time and time again from our customers that they are looking for alternative packaging to solve these old problems and provide a new packaging style and experience.“
Franz Glas, Alpma-Division manager for cutting and packaging technology.

FreshPack is the new solution

FreshPack is the name of the new butter packaging which, unlike the old classic butter packaging, provides „perfect“ product protection. This is because the all-round seal guarantees protection against tampering and creates consumer confidence. The seal apparently also protects the butter from oxygen exchange. And this is particularly important for the flavour. „This preserves the flavour in the product much better,“ Glas continues. „When you open the packaging, you have an aroma experience. You can smell and taste that the butter is fresher.

The new product's practical, easy-to-open tabs also make it possible to peel off the pack quickly and easily, making greasy fingers a thing of the past.
