Camm Solutions is expanding in order to offer more recyclable plastic substitutes. The company is opening another site in Spain to create space for greater production volumes.

With the sustainable plastic based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), Camm Solutions has developed an alternative to conventional plastic: sustainably produced, biodegradable and usable for numerous product applications without leaving behind eternal chemicals or microplastics. The development of prototypes and pilot quantities was recently followed by the Entry into industrial production at the plant in Spain. Here, the camm material is produced in the form in which customers require it for further processing - as a Compounds, pellets or as an end product.

Now comes the next leap in growth. In addition to the plant in Rafelbunyol near Valencia, a further 1,500 square metres have been rented in the neighbouring town of El Puig. At the new location The turbomixing of the camm material and the extrusion of the camm material are relocated.. Extrusion in Puig will also be expanded with additional machines and the tonnage increased accordingly.

„The additional production area meets the food safety standard so that granulate for food applications can also be produced there.“

In addition, offices will be relocated to El Puig in order to create more storage space in Rafelbunyol. The move will take place in September and October. On Research & development with laboratory and pilot plants will remain at the existing site and the production of injection moulding products and films.

„So that our sustainable material is also affordable and competitive, we quickly ramp up the quantity produced and thus realise corresponding economies of scale“, Bergstein explains the expansion. In addition, the high demand for camm material requires a rapid expansion of capacity. Around 1,500 tonnes are to be produced and processed this year. With the expansion of capacity, the aim is to reach 6,000 to 8,000 tonnes next year.

„As the quantity produced increases, so does the sustainability effect. This brings us closer to our goal of creating a global solution to the plastic problem.“
