Packaging manufacturer Canpack Group is investing around 140 million US dollars in the construction of a second aluminium can factory in Colombia. With the new plant near Barranquilla in the Caribbean north of the country, the company is strengthening its presence in South America and responding to the increasing demand for beverage cans.
The new plant is scheduled to go into operation in the first quarter of 2027 and will have a capacity of around one billion cans per year. Around 160 skilled jobs are to be created in the region. According to CEO Marius Croitoru, the plant will „strengthen Canpack's position to serve the growing market demand in Colombia and neighbouring countries“. The company is also reaffirming its commitment to innovation, sustainability and regional economic development.
Canpack has been active in Colombia since 2018 and already operates a plant in Tocancipá, which opened in 2019.
