Stora Enso has launched Performa Light CarbonZero, a carbon-neutral cardboard range. It is designed to help customers reduce their climate impact and achieve sustainability goals.
With Performa Light CarbonZero, Stora Enso offers a range of carbon-neutral, renewable and recyclable cartonboard materials that help Stora Enso's customers to minimise their carbon footprint. Achieving sustainability goals and take concrete, measurable measures to combat climate change with the help of their packaging.
Performa Light CarbonZero is produced at Stora Enso's Fors plant in Sweden, which is used for electricity and steam generation and, from the beginning of 2022, also for internal logistics. does not cause any fossil carbon emissions. This has been achieved through continuous efforts and investments to improve operational processes. As a result, production already causes extremely low greenhouse gas emissions. In order to make Performa Light CarbonZero carbon-neutral, the currently unavoidable emissions from raw material production are offset by a reliable compensation service provided by external partner South Pole.

Stora Enso wants 100 per cent circular by 2050 and to become positive in terms of biodiversity and carbon footprint. The company is already reducing the greenhouse gas emissions of its operational processes and value chain and the proportion of fossil fuels in the company's total energy consumption is low. The carbon-neutral Performa Light CarbonZero is suitable as a material for folding cartons for packaging chocolates, confectionery, cosmetics, beauty and healthcare and other premium products. It is characterised by its patented fibre treatment technology FiberLight Tec is characterised by its particularly light weight without sacrificing strength.
