Wine production is a trade characterised by tradition. Nevertheless, the American company CCL Container is trying its hand at an innovation that is unusual to the eye: a wine bottle made of aluminium.

Shaped using CCL Container's BodyShapes technology, the 750-millilitre aluminium bottle is resealable and has a screw cap, which, according to the company, keeps the wine fresher for longer than a conventional glass bottle. With a higher thermal conductivity and cold storage capacity than glass and plastic, aluminium bottles cool down quickly and stay cool for longer.

Container made entirely of aluminium

As the thread in the cap does not contain any plastic, the entire container is made of pure aluminium, 100 per cent recyclable. Despite their large diameter, aluminium bottles weigh less than glass bottles, while the durability of the metal makes the bottles less susceptible to accidents.

„The wine industry is steeped in a tradition that goes back thousands of years, but Many brands and wine drinkers demand innovation„, says Kimberly Kizer, Vice President of Sales at CCL Container. „The new aluminium wine bottle in the shape of a Burgundy offers the best of all worlds in terms of quality, freshness and sustainability and unique branding opportunities.“
