CCL Label, a global leader in labelling and packaging, has announced the opening of a new shrink label production facility in Tibi, Spain, near Alicante.
This plant, operating under the name CCL Label Spain, is the Food & Beverage division's second production facility in Spain and is designed to help local and multinational brands meet their recycling targets and comply with upcoming European regulations.
State-of-the-art printing technology for premium shrink labels
The new facility in Tibi has been equipped with state-of-the-art printing technology that offers a combination of offset and gravure printing processes. This technology is intended to provide customers with a high degree of flexibility for frequent design changes. According to Reinhard Streit, VP and Managing Director Food & Beverage at CCL Label, the investment in this modern facility is a clear commitment to the growing market for consumer goods in Spain.
Focus on EcoFloat technology
A particular focus of the new production facility is the award-winning EcoFloat shrink film. Made from polyolefin, this shrink film is approved for PET, HDPE and PP bottles and containers and is used by many well-known brands. EcoFloat film is characterised by its low density, which allows it to be easily separated from the main container during the recycling process, aiding material separation and increasing recycling efficiency.
In future, shrink film production will be merged with in-mould label (IML) production, which CCL Label took over around a year ago. The relocation of IML production to the new site in Tibi is planned for 2026. José Vincente Guillem, General Manager of the CCL Spain IML facility, explains that IML is a fast-growing decoration technology in which the label becomes an integral part of the plastic container without the need for adhesives.
