
At a meeting of the Supervisory Board in December, a number of personnel changes were decided at BASF. Dr Markus Kamieth, for example, will become Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE.
Dr Markus Kamieth (53) will become Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE at the end of the Annual Meeting on 25 April 2024. This was decided by the Supervisory Board at its meeting on 20 December 2023. Markus Kamieth has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE since 2017. He succeeds Dr Martin Brudermüller (62), who has led the company as Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors since 2018 and has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since 2006.

The Supervisory Board has appointed Anup Kothari (55), currently Head of the Nutrition & Health division, as a member of the Executive Board with effect from 1 March 2024. Dr Katja Scharpwinkel (54) was appointed as a member of the Executive Board and Labour Director with effect from 1 February 2024. She is currently Head of the Europe, Middle East, Africa region. Katja Scharpwinkel succeeds Dr Melanie Maas-Brunner (55), who has informed the Supervisory Board that she will not be renewing her contract, which runs until 31 January 2024. The Supervisory Board also extended the contract of Michael Heinz (59), member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, until the 2026 Annual General Meeting. He is responsible for the Agricultural Solutions, Nutrition & Health and Care Chemicals divisions as well as the North America and South America regions.
