Circular economy: Silver anniversary at take-back system operator RIGK

The Wiesbaden-based recycling specialist RIGK is celebrating its silver anniversary. For 25 years, the company has been at the interface between distributors and end users, helping to turn used plastic packaging and agricultural plastic products back into valuable raw materials.

RIGK according to its own information, operates eight Take-back systems, The company trades in plastics and provides project-related advice all over the world. 28 employees work at the Wiesbaden headquarters. There are 60 employees worldwide. There are co-operations with almost 58,000 customers and over 1,100 suppliers and partner companies throughout Germany.

The company was founded 25 years ago in the light of the 1991 German Packaging Ordinance. Since then, RIGK's business activities have become highly internationalised. This internationalisation is also reflected in memberships in organisations such as the Product stewardship industry initiative (BiPv) and EPRO (European Plastics Recycling Organisation). EPRO will be organising the third International Recycling Forum in Wiesbaden in November 2019.

Managing Director Markus Dambeck sees his company's goals in further perfecting existing take-back systems and developing new ones. „In addition, the current EU waste package with its ambitious plastics recycling quota of 55 per cent for 2030 and the ‚EU Plastics Strategy‘ to further intensify collection and recycling activities,“ adds the RIGK boss.
