Two years ago, Mondi Jülich and Mondi Heerlen began a partnership with Veyzle, a Dutch specialist in the recycling of paper and plastics, and the Dutch site of the WEPA Group, an expert in sustainable hygiene paper. Since then, Veyzle has been collecting Mondi's production waste from the two plants and sorting, shredding and bundling the various papers before they are transported to WEPA. WEPA has developed an advanced processing technology in order to laminated and siliconised papers and use them to produce hygiene papers such as toilet paper and paper towels. to produce. All three partners are located close to each other in order to minimise transport.

„At Mondi, we see waste as a loss of resources and have committed to eliminating waste from our production processes as part of our MAP2030 agenda. In this project, we have set ourselves the goal of utilising production waste more effectively by recycling it as secondary raw materials in other applications. We are very proud of the 95 per cent reduction we have achieved at both sites and are now looking forward to working with CELAB, the leading industry initiative for the self-adhesive label value chain, and building relationships with other partners to further improve the circularity of materials at our other release liner sites in Europe.“
