Cold Jet will be showcasing dry ice cleaning solutions for sustainable surface preparation and cleaning in the plastics industry at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen. These solutions dispense with the use of chemicals and mechanical agents.

The use of dry ice in various applications in plastics processing helps the industry to move towards a circular economy and protect the environment. The CO₂ used for the production of dry ice is a carbon capture and utilisation process in which recycled CO₂ is used and replaces the environmentally harmful cleaning process with solvents.

Mould cleaning is still an important part of manufacturing quality products. The Cleaning mould cavities and vents from resin outgassing, cured material or mould release agents can prevent numerous common injection moulding problems such as short shots, burns, burrs, contamination, etc. Because conventional methods lead to longer downtimes and often require the use of chemicals. or mechanical means that are harmful to employees, abrasive to the tools and can wear out critical mould tolerances, cleaning is often delayed.

Cleaning with dry ice
