A clear view at glasstec 2024

In October, the international glass industry will come together in Düsseldorf for glasstec 2024. Under the motto „We are glass“, the trade fair offers an extensive supporting programme that focuses on this year's hot topics „Digital technologies, circular economy and decarbonisation“.

With the high-calibre supporting programme, the glasstec 2024 once again proved that it lives up to its position as the world's leading trade fair. The trade fair brings together experts from industry and research, promotes start-ups and serves as a driving force for trends and innovations in the glass industry through the formats for knowledge transfer and networking. The centrepiece of the trade fair's comprehensive lecture programme is the glasstec conference 2024, where lectures by international experts, exhibitors, representatives of the trade and representatives from science, research and design will be presented on three stages.

The topics covered in the glass trends sessions include bundled industry expertise from theory and practice on current hot topics. CircuClarity One is an initiative by Dr Lisa Rammig and Prof Linda Hildebrand, who Developments and progress in the glass industry with a focus on sustainable practices illuminated. The craft sector also gets a stage with Handwerk Live. Specialist lectures and workshops for further training and insights into the latest techniques and trends in the glass processing trade will be presented here.

The start-up sessions offer young companies a platform for the presentation of innovative ideas and products. „Bringing together research and industry“ is the motto of the glass melting pot. Research ideas and projects will be presented and discussed in an environment of international glass experts. In the architecture forum, renowned international architecture firms will present their projects focussing on „Current trends and challenges in architecture with glass“. The forum is organised by glasstec in cooperation with the trade journal DETAIL and Prof. Dr. Ing.

Also back at glasstec: the innovation show glass technology live is being organised in cooperation with the Technical Universities of Darmstadt, Delft, Dresden and Bochum. This Special show has established itself as the innovation platform and is regarded as a highlight for trade visitors, architects and anyone interested in future applications for glass. This year's highlights include a glass pavilion made of curved and laminated thin glass, manufactured by the engineering firm Eckersley O'Callaghan, and windows that can be transformed into screens. Fotoverbundglas Marl will be presenting laminates that were previously technically impossible to realise. As a further special show, glass art offers extraordinary works of art and objects from international galleries and allows visitors to explore the aesthetic diversity of glass.
