DS Smith and the Nagel-Group are working together to process the corrugated cardboard from packaging into new recycled corrugated base paper. The corrugated cardboard produced by the Nagel-Group is recycled at the DS Smith paper mill in Aschaffenburg.
Nagel-Group operates several distribution warehouses in the Rhine-Main region for numerous branded companies from the consumer goods and food industries and also offers various co-packing services. The Unpacking and repackaging of goods in the form of corrugated cardboard packaging is used by DS Smith transported directly to the nearby DS Smith paper mill in Aschaffenburg and recycled there.
„We are delighted to have found a strong partner in DS Smith, with whom we can jointly reduce the complexity of our processes and at the same time ensure additional transparency in our supply chain. The fact that our partner DS Smith collects the waste paper and transports it to its nearby paper mill means that it is 100 per cent transparent where and how the waste paper is disposed of. This saves us additional handling by a waste disposal company and also guarantees short transport routes. We were particularly impressed and convinced by DS Smith's expert advice when it came to selecting the baler and optimising our internal processes.“
Olaf Meerkötter, Head of Logistics Nagel-Group
The sorted waste paper collected is then processed at DS Smith Paper Aschaffenburg into new recycled corrugated base paper from which new, fully recyclable display and packaging solutions are produced in DS Smith's packaging plants. Paper fibres can be recycled more than 20 times in this high-quality recycling loop.
