Pester pac automation is expanding its portfolio with the environmentally friendly Solutum film. This biodegradable packaging solution can be processed efficiently on existing Pester stretch wrapping machines and offers a sustainable alternative to conventional film materials.
Pester pac automation and the start-up Solutum have jointly developed a new, biodegradable film that is now being used in Pester's packaging systems. The Solutum film is characterised by its Completely degradable in industrial composting plants as well as in natural environments such as water and soil. According to the company, it also offers Higher tear resistance than conventional LDPE films, This enables material savings to be made.
The new film is complete Compatible with existing stretch wrapping and full wrapping systems from Pester. This enables companies to switch to the environmentally friendly alternative without major retrofitting.
„By using Solutum's biodegradable film on our systems, we are making an active contribution to environmental protection and also offering our customers the opportunity for efficient processing and material savings.“
Joachim Eckart, Head of Sales at Pester pac automation
Another advantage of Solutum film is that it can be produced locally on existing extruders, which reduces transport emissions and promotes regional economic cycles. The use of this film also reduces the Cooling requirement of stretch wrapping systems by up to 80 per cent, which leads to considerable energy savings.
The innovative packaging material from Solutum is already Multiple certified, The company has been awarded the Interseroh „Made for Recycling“ certificate and TÜV certifications for industrial composting and biodegradability, among others. Sharon Barak, founder and president of Solutum, emphasises the versatile end-of-life properties of the material:
„In a non-managed environment, such as oceans or rivers, the Solutum film biodegrades completely without leaving any microplastics behind.“
On the Specialist pack In 2024, Pester pac automation and Solutum jointly present a stretch wrapping machine that processes the new, environmentally friendly Solutum film. This collaboration between the two companies is an important step towards a more sustainable packaging industry that offers both ecological and economic benefits.
