I don't remember exactly - it might have been 15 minutes. During which we simply walked side by side. The sun was slowly setting over the east of Frankfurt; the traffic on the Hanauer Landstraße did everything it could to dampen the harmonious mood. But in vain: Collin Weber was in high spirits, having had an eventful, intensive day at a packaging industry event. Home game!

Weber, and I only realised this over the years, did not have to learn how to network - it was in his blood. With his engaging yet unobtrusive manner, he knew how to bind his dialogue partners within minutes. In the most positive sense of the word.

The role he has played in the German-speaking packaging industry over the past decades cannot be overestimated. His passion for packaging in all its facets can be seen in his entire life's work, for example as one of the driving forces behind the German Packaging Museum, the Dresden Packaging Conference and his continuous involvement in Fachpack in Nuremberg.

With Collin Weber Personalberatung, he has placed a large number of current and former managers in positions of responsibility. We always talked a lot about how sensitively and with how much tact you have to proceed. The fine line between business and human accessibility - that was his speciality.

I look back fondly on the inspiring conversations, phone calls and meetings with him. For me, who had to search my way through the packaging industry for a long time, they were like a signpost with helpful, clear signposts.

He will be missed. The industry. And me.

Collin Weber was a pioneer in personnel consulting for the packaging industry. Since 1998, he has managed Collin Weber Personalberatung GmbH, which specialises in filling specialist and management positions in the packaging industry.

His company supported companies from the packaging materials, process and packaging technology, FMCG, pharmaceutical, medical technology and automotive sectors in recruiting top employees. Thanks to his many years of expertise and industry knowledge, he made a significant contribution to the successful placement of candidates who often could not be reached through conventional channels.

With the motto „People for Packaging“, he created a lasting legacy in the industry, which will be continued with the takeover of his company by BGH-Consulting GmbH.

Matthias Laux knew and appreciated Collin Weber. The two met again and again at many industry events and also in their private lives and exchanged ideas intensively. Matthias Laux has been deputy editor-in-chief of packaging journal since this year.
