Sinclair and Zespri have jointly developed a compostable fruit label that has been certified according to strict standards. The label is TÜV-certified and fulfils the requirements for industrial and home composting, making it a sustainable alternative for fruit labelling.
Sinclair, a leading global provider of fruit labelling solutions, and Zespri, the largest kiwifruit marketer, have signed a Compostable fruit label was launched on the market. The label, which is certified in accordance with the standards of TÜV Austria, ABA and DIN CERTCO, can be applied to both industrially as well as in domestic compost decompose without leaving any harmful residues. According to Sinclair, the new product fulfils the high demands of the fresh produce industry by making important product information such as origin, variety and barcodes visible, while at the same time being environmentally friendly.
Colin Woodward, CEO of Sinclair, emphasised that the label is the best performing compostable fruit label on the market. The co-operation with Zespri underlined the joint commitment of both companies to sustainable packaging solutions. Zespri's CEO Jason Te Brake emphasised that the label gives consumers the assurance that they are purchasing an environmentally friendly packaged product while contributing to the company's sustainability goals.
