The Constantia Flexibles Group has invested almost three million euros in new printing technology at its German production facility in Wangen im Allgäu.

The plant in Wangen im Allgäu is the location of Constantia Nusser GmbH - one of the leading suppliers of high-quality aluminium-based closures for the local dairy industry for over 90 years. An existing UV flexo printing system for medium batch sizes in the Dairy segment was extended by one Gravure printing unit which will make it possible in future to use the spacers for the smooth circuit board Inline instead of applying the outline in a second step. Furthermore, a Small batch sizes specialised UV flexographic printing machine. With these investments, it will now be possible to decommission old systems and also completely phase out solvent technology. Nusser is thus making a significant contribution to improving its own environmental performance by reducing CO2 and fugitive emissions.

Nusser employs around 120 people and generates around 70 per cent of its turnover with customers from southern Germany. The production facility is certified according to ISO 9001:2000, ISO 50001, BRC and FDA hygiene. The new capacities will be ramped up in stages over the next six months.

„This investment in modern technologies helps us to secure our Nusser site for the future and emphasises our commitment to supplying our customers with the best products and the highest quality,“ explains Stefan Grote, Executive Vice President of the Food Europe Division, Constantia Flexibles.
