Convertible systems for intralogistics

At LogiMAT 2024, the adaptability and flexibility of systems and solutions will be a key topic in the Expert Forums.

The adaptability and flexibility of systems and solutions is a key topic at LogiMAT 2024. In various expert forums, specialists from science and industry will address the topic and shed light on the perspectives on changeability in intralogistics.

The fundamental attributes for sustainable solutions are Easily restructurable components for a modular design of the overall system and modular system technology. The combination of modules to form a precisely customised overall system promises a high degree of flexibility with regard to extensions and modifications. In intralogistics, this is known as adaptability.

The range of corresponding instruments, as emphasised by the topics of the Expert Forums at the LogiMAT, The product portfolio ranges from modularly designed warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics suites to plant and material flow control through to process-optimised interaction of conveyor technology and fleets of transport equipment. A classic example in warehouse technology is the consistently modular design of AutoStore technology with the scalability of all system components. This will be presented at the trade fair by various exhibitors and the system developer itself.

Hardware and fluid production

Robert Schulz, Head of the Institute of Materials Handling and Logistics (IFT), University of Stuttgart, will present logistics and safety concepts as well as hardware and software components as logistical aspects of fluid production in the Expert Forum „Logistics for Fluid Production“.

In addition to the hardware components, the software with the integration of artificial intelligence for analyses and forecasts supports the Flexibility and changeability of material flow design and processes. Against the backdrop of escalating volatility, weak sales and staff shortages, for example, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Thorsten Schmidt, VDI Society for Production and Logistics (GPL) and holder of the Chair of Technical Logistics at the TU Dresden, states that the successful eCommerce sector is increasingly manoeuvring in challenging waters. He discusses the current challenges and solutions for the industry with practitioners.

Quick test for more flexibility

Analyse briefly and concisely in order to Derive improvement measures and increase flexibility - This is also the core idea behind Quick Check order management. As an instrument of changeability, such a quick check combines existing with newly developed methods and focuses on qualitative analyses. In the Expert Forum „Quick Check Order Management“, Dipl.-Ing. Michael Lickefett, Head of the Factory Planning and Production Management Department, Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA), will present the analysis approach and discuss its functionality.

Dr Günter Ullrich, Managing Partner of Forum-FTS GmbH, Head of the VDI AGV Technical Committee, will look at „The future of mobile robots from the perspective of sensor manufacturers“. Based on the use and requirements for the use of robots in factory halls and warehouses of manufacturing companies and with a view to applications in publicly accessible areas, the panel of experts will focus in particular on the challenges for the safety-related design of robots and sensor technology.

„The Expert Forums in the supporting programme of LogiMAT 2024 will shed light on the fundamentals and prospects for changeability and investment security in intralogistics from a wide variety of perspectives. This provides trade visitors with a proven basis for assessing and deciding on a flexible, future-proof system solution for upcoming investments - and underlines the added value of LogiMAT as a leading information platform for intralogistics solutions and process management.“
