Together with the City of Copenhagen, the Danish company New Loop is launching a return and reusable system for take-away packaging - equipped with durable packaging solutions from KeepIn, the reusable brand of the German Jokey Group from Wipperfürth.

Citizens can simply return cups, bowls and trays there - and Digital, deposit-based with app. The system combines intelligent deposit management, digital technology and resource-efficient packaging.

Circular packaging design „Made in Germany“

The reusable packaging used comes from German production: KeepIn produces them at the Jokey plant in Sohland in Lusatia made from ISCC Plus-certified bio-based polypropylene (PP) based on renewable raw materials. The Certification is based on the mass balance approach, in which bio-based raw materials are allocated to the product on the balance sheet. The system thus combines technology from Germany with circular thinking from Scandinavia - an example of functioning European cooperation in terms of sustainable urban development.

Digital deposit system with Mastercard connection

The return system is based on a Fully digital deposit handlingIn cooperation with Mastercard, users can receive their deposit refund directly on almost any credit card - quickly, securely and without additional registration - and shows how digital infrastructure and sustainability complement each other.

Social added value and national perspective

At selected return stations consumers can also donate their deposit. The proceeds go to the Danish Society for Nature Conservation - to fund projects to combat waste in public spaces and protect nature. The pilot project is also part of Denmark's national strategy to establish a nationwide, standardised reusable and deposit system. For KeepIn and Jokey, the focus is not on setting up their own return systems, but on developing long-lasting packaging solutions that are efficiently support existing and future systems and make them scalable.

The Danish company New Loop develops digital return and deposit systems for reusable packaging. The system integrates return machines, logistics, cleaning and quality control with digital deposit processing. With a open model based on GS1 QR codes the platform is open to all packaging suppliers who want to become part of a sustainable circular economy.
