Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik was founded in 1931 as a corrugated cardboard, post and railway box factory. Production has been taking place at the Wustermark site since 2004 and the site is now celebrating 20 years of development.
With their affiliation to the Panther Group (since 1967), Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG has enjoyed continuous successful development. In this millennium in particular, which has been characterised by major investments throughout the group of companies, the plant has been equipped with the latest generation of machines for corrugated board production, die-cutting and printing for the manufacture of a wide variety of packaging and displays. Production, initially based in Berlin-Spandau, was relocated to Havelland, not far from the capital, in 2004 to Room for expansion and future viability to create. The corrugated board experts were also the pioneers of today's Panther trio, to which the site has been expanded in recent years. The competence centre formed since then, consisting of Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik, Panther Display and Panther Print, combines their respective areas of expertise and is continuously expanding its range of services.
Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik traditionally supplies a large customer base in Germany and the neighbouring regions of Eastern Europe. Thanks to its own development capacities for packaging and displays as well as consulting services for processes and systems, the experts are in close contact with customers from a wide range of industries. A large part of the success of Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik is based on the Promoting young talent and securing expertise by taking on self-trained employees. The quality and high value of these training endeavours have been recognised several times.

The new plant location integrated a GMP standard (Good Manufacturing Practice) from the outset and, of course, DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality) and 14001 (environment). The production of corrugated board on the corrugator, which is still state-of-the-art today with its working width of 2,800 mm, is united under one roof. Processing and finishing into packaging using flexographic direct printing or the flexographic preprint process, display production and customisation as well as forward-looking logistics - all from a single source. Two decades at the new site have been characterised by a wide variety of challenges. First and foremost, corona with its impact on the economy and society, which has also placed massive demands on the Panther Group to always fulfil all customer needs as far as possible.
Good prospects
In general, the food and many non-food industries, as well as online retail, provide Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik with good prospects for the future. The fact that corrugated cardboard, a recycled material, is increasingly valued and used for its recyclability also contributes to this. These factors are decisive prerequisites for the continued positive development of Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik and the team's job prospects. In the years following the inauguration of the „new Wepoba“ in 2004, the Panther Group used the site for numerous Expansion steps - technical and spatial. For example, the capacities for high-quality finished and colour-designed folding cartons were already expanded in 2009. So-called „mini-lines“, flexo folder-gluers with four Martin FFG 618 Quattro printing units, significantly boost performance in this area. With its four printing colour units, the new system configuration offers the option of producing high-quality „to produce folding boxes “printed" via the riller in a single operation.
The Panther Group has consistently and continuously expanded the die-cutting capacities at Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik. In addition to two mirrored flatbed die-cutters, which are operated by a team of machine operators, Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik also has two highly productive rotary die-cutters. In order to meet the requirements of online trading, Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik has invested in two highly automated FKM production lines for the manufacture of multi-point adhesive packaging invested. Convenience features such as tear-open threads and adhesive strips can be implemented on these. A new production and storage hall has also been built in the meantime. The new premises have created a further 15,000 m² of space to further expand the service level of the Wepoba corrugated board factory and increase the finished goods storage capacity to around 30,000 pallet spaces. The Panther Group will continue to invest in the Panther plants in the future and impress the markets with high-quality corrugated board, packaging and displays.
