Preparations for drinktec 2025 are in the middle of the hot phase: with strong registration figures, the world's leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry is in excellent shape, according to reports.

Over 1,000 exhibitors from more than 50 countries will once again present the trends for beverage and liquid food production in Munich from 15 to 19 September 2025. On more than 73,000 square metres, exhibitors from the entire value chain will showcase their expertise for all tasks and challenges in the industry.

Rolf Keller, Managing Director of Yontex, emphasises the importance of drinktec in the global market of the beverage and liquid food industry: „With drinktec, we are very close to the market and are once again consistently aligning this trade fair to the needs of the industry. This is also clearly reflected in the great response to drinktec 2025.“ Markus Kosak, Executive Director drinktec Cluster, goes into more detail: „We still have a few spaces available. Enquiries are still coming in all the time and we are placing them in the right areas as best we can.“ It is clear that the claim to be the world's leading trade fair is once again being honoured. With the 2025 edition of the trade fair, the industry has confirmed that there is a broad international portfolio of technologies and solutions for the production of beverages and liquid food.

The previous division of one third German exhibitors and two thirds international exhibitors will be achieved again this year.

„The international field of participants is drinktec's brand essence and documents its strength. In terms of visitors, this means that drinktec can establish itself as the favoured trade fair venue for all beverage and liquid food manufacturers worldwide. It is the only place where they can find out about specific future solutions for their industry.”

Liquidrome - where the future is shown

There is a new concept for the supporting programme, says Kosak: „We are combining our supporting programme in one area in Hall C4 and offering an area for knowledge exchange, exhibitor presentations and dialogue with science and research with our new „Liquidrome“ format. In the Liquidrome, we are creating the basis for the exchange of the future.“ This action area expands the spectrum of information gathering for visitors and opens up perspectives for new product creations, the application of innovative technologies and market strategies, it is said. In close cooperation with drinktec's conceptual sponsor, the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, these offerings will be bundled under three main themes.

Key topics show future prospects

  • In the Key topic „Circularity & Resource Management“ the programme is dedicated to topics such as „Water reuse“ and „Wastewater treatment“. The presentations will shed light from different perspectives on how the global requirements for economical water consumption can be implemented. Other key topics include energy recovery, the use of residual materials from the production process and the optimised use of materials in packaging. In this context, the implementation of the EU Plastic and Plastic Waste Regulation (PPWR) will also be covered in the lecture programme.
  • In the second key topic „Data2Value“ the programme focuses on process transparency and the integration of solutions that integrate machine learning or AI applications. Individual examples include flavour prediction models and maintenance management with the help of prediction models. A similar approach can also be applied to the design of cleaning processes: In combination with machine learning, AI makes it possible to recognise the degree of contamination in containers and to start suitable cleaning processes on a self-adjusting basis.
  • The impulses of the third guiding theme „Lifestyle & Health“, where visitors to the trade fair will receive inspiration on flavour solutions for non-alcoholic or low-alcohol beer, non-alcoholic wines and fermented drinks, among other things. This will enable them to tap into the market potential in this growth segment with optimised recipes. Functional beverages containing minerals, vitamins, amino acids, fibre or probiotics, for example, will gain market share. The fortification of beverages with plant-based proteins, which can also be isolated from side streams in the brewing process, will also become more important.

Good mood worldwide

Over the past few months, the trade fair team has completed an extensive programme of visits to international markets in cooperation with the VDMA. The drinktec roadshow is a tried-and-tested format for discussing the current market situation with multipliers in the global markets. With stops in around 20 countries worldwide, the drinktec team covered every continent.

During the stops in South East Asia, China and Japan, in South America, Europe and Africa, the drinktec team once again made close contact with the local trade public. „We met with great interest worldwide. The contributions from local associations gave us a deep insight into the strategic and economic orientation of the respective target countries. This is an immensely important personal exchange for us in order to optimise the positioning of drinktec,“ Kosak looks back.

The feedback from event participants is also always positive: In some countries, this trade fair is the first opportunity since the pandemic to see news and technical innovation live again. „All in all, the signs are pointing to growth,“ says Kosak, summarising the meetings with industry multipliers.
