Coveris is strengthening its medical packaging division and investing heavily in the modernisation of its production facilities.
With an extensive Investment programme of 10 million euros Coveris is thus taking a significant development leap towards Industry 4.0 and positioning itself as best-in-class in terms of process transparency, purity and quality.
After a good two years of preparation with precise market analysis and careful planning, Coveris recently began modernising its production facilities for Medical sterile packaging at the Halle site in Germany.
The modernisation affects all production steps - extrusion, printing, lamination and processing - which thus clearly meet Industry 4.0 standards. The Production facilities are being upgraded and the highest industry-wide standards for safety and purity brought. To reduce the risk of contamination to an absolute minimum, printing and lamination take place in a dedicated clean room.
In a second phase, which is planned for the 3rd and 4th quarters of this year, the entire manufacturing process in Halle will also be optimised in accordance with ISO class 8 cleanroom conditions modernised.
Everything new until spring 2021
This new clean room not only provides a clean environment during production, but also during packaging and preparation for customer despatch. Significantly improved degree of purity. The full transition from the existing equipment to the new equipment is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
