Coveris, the pan-European packaging manufacturer, has announced the development of a new, sustainable and recyclable range of packaging for hot food on the go.

The so-called "Heat" range is characterised by a double oven and keep-warm function and is made from printable, double-opening cardboard, hybrid cardboard and foil. It enables touch-free cooking in cafés, fast food restaurants, coffee shops and takeaways.

The packaging eliminates the need for direct contact with food, as the food can remain in the packaging from cooking through to marketing and consumption. Examples of applications cited by the company include pastries, wraps, toasties and pasta dishes. The range can withstand cooking temperatures of up to 220°C and heat retention temperatures of up to 90°C.

In addition, the HEAT series has a windowed box that improves product visibility and quality assurance.
