Regional cultivation of silphia can reduce transport distances. The silphia plants used to produce the fibres come from the district of Sigmaringen in Baden-Württemberg. This is also where OutNature's fibre processing plant is located. In addition, the Fibres obtained without the use of chemicals. The Silphie plant also offers a sustainable perspective for farmers, as its long flowering period from July to September makes it insect-friendly, among other things, in the soil CO2 and protects it from wind and water erosion. The robust, perennial plant has so far only been used to produce biogas. OutNature has succeeded in separating the plant fibres using a biothermal process. In this way, the PreZero brand is harnessing silphia fibres as a new raw material produced in Germany that is reshaping the paper and packaging industry.
„PreZero pursues the vision of a world in which resources are no longer wasted thanks to closed cycles: zero waste, 100 per cent recyclable material. That's why PreZero is always on the lookout for new raw materials, processes and concepts that convincingly combine ecology and economy.“
