Manufacturers of conveyor systems are increasingly planning and designing complete, customised systems for their customers. Dorner GmbH from Jülich has realised a conveyor solution over two floors for the online record mail order company deejay.de.

The good old Record lives. DJs in particular still swear by vinyl discs to mix their danceable sounds. Of course, the distribution of the sounding plastic products takes place largely via the Internet. In order to be able to deliver quickly, good warehouse logistics are essential. The Dorner GmbH from Jülich supported the online retailer „deejay.com“ recently in the optimisation of its Intralogistics.

Many of Dorner's customers now want the realisation of specific conveyor solutions in addition to pure production. This was also the case with deejay.de from near Hof. The enquiry was for a Labour-saving complete solution. The scope of services should not only the delivery of a conveyor belt module The planning of the specific conveyor solution and integration into the existing production environment should be included in the scope of delivery.

Warehouse and dispatch connected over two floors

The special thing about the order from deejay.de was that Warehouse and dispatch on two floors are located. Dorner designed and built a system for the supplier of sound storage media and music accessories that is largely made up of Standard components of the company's own product programme. Only the stands and mounting units were customised.

After the system was set up and put into operation quickly after the order was placed, deejay.de has now established a functioning workflow across two floors. The records are stored on the first floor. There, warehouse staff pick the ordered goods into plastic boxes and place them on a storage system. Standard conveyor belt with adhesive belt.

Sensors recognise that a box has been set up and set the belt in motion. In the next step, the box is placed on a Ascending conveyor belt, which is also fitted with an adhesive belt. It transports the crate one floor down to the dispatch department. The ascending conveyor belt can be loaded with loads of up to five kilograms.

Empty boxes are conveyed via ascending conveyor belt

The records are now prepared for despatch. The finished parcels are then handed over by the dispatch staff on a Plastic modular belt. Here, too, the Dorner experts had to react to the special spatial conditions. The conveyor belt has a twenty-degree curve. The conveyed goods are then transferred to a non-driven roller conveyor and run to accumulation.

The finally emptied Plastic boxes must now be transported back to the starting point. To do this, they are placed on a conveyor line running parallel below. This system is also activated by a sensor. On the return journey, the boxes are also transferred to a plastic modular belt with a curve. The boxes are returned to the first floor using an inclined conveyor belt with an adhesive belt. After a further transfer to a non-driven Roller conveyor is promoted again to congestion.
